Privacy policy

Mint Urgency is a Shopify app made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects when a merchant installs it, how we use it, and how it's deleted.

The short version

  • We store the bars and timers you create: messages, links, thresholds, schedules, colours and which products or pages they show on.
  • We don't collect or store any personal information about your customers. The storefront script runs in the shopper's browser and never sends anything to our servers.
  • We don't use cookies or trackers on your storefront, and we never sell or share your data.
  • When you uninstall, everything we hold about your store is deleted.

Permissions we ask Shopify for

PermissionWhy
Read productsSo you can pick which products show a countdown timer. We only save the IDs and titles of the products you pick.

We also read your store's timezone and currency (so schedules and thresholds are right) and your Mint Urgency subscription status from Shopify. We can't see or change your orders, customers, inventory, themes or payments.

What we collect

InformationWhy
Your store's domain and a Shopify access tokenTo connect to your store when you use the app.
Your bars and timers: names, messages, links, free-shipping thresholds, schedules, colours, page URLs, product tags and selected productsTo show them in the app and publish them to your store. We copy them into a metafield owned by the app in your Shopify store, which your theme reads directly.
Your store's timezone, currency and planTo convert schedules and thresholds correctly and decide which features to turn on. Payments are handled entirely by Shopify.

Shoppers and the storefront

On your storefront, the Mint Urgency script reads the shopper's cart total from Shopify's own cart API inside their browser to show free-shipping progress. It doesn't send the cart, or anything else, to us. If a shopper closes an announcement bar, that choice is remembered in their browser's local storage (the bar's ID only) so it stays closed; this is not a tracking cookie and isn't shared with anyone. We don't receive, store or process customer personal data, and we respond to Shopify's customer data request and deletion webhooks as required — there is nothing for us to return or delete.

Where data is stored

The app runs on Cloudflare (hosting and database) and connects to Shopify's APIs. Data is encrypted in transit. We don't use any other third-party services, analytics or advertising.

Retention and deletion

We keep your bars and timers while the app is installed. When you uninstall, your access token is deleted immediately and Shopify removes the app's metafield from your store, so the bars and timers stop showing. Shopify then asks us to erase your store's data 48 hours later, at which point everything is permanently deleted. You can also email us to request deletion at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about your store. Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
